A Brief History of HOPE
A vision to open a new church in Claymont, DE named HOPE Community Church began in February of 2008 when Bishop Peggy Johnson visited Atonement Church. Bishop Johnson recognized the growth, the changes that were occurring within the church, and posed the question, "Have you ever thought about opening another church?" Actually, Pastor John Hornberger (the lead pastor at Aonement UMC), Amy Peters (assistant pastor of Atonement UMC and now campus pastor of HOPE), and Mark Peters (husband of Amy Peters) had thought about that possibility. So Mark responded, "Yes, we have." From that day forward, HOPE Community church grew to become a reality that is now three years old.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month
It’s not an official holiday, but many churches mark October as “Pastor Appreciation Month” and the 2nd Sunday as “Pastor Appreciation Day.” Pastor Appreciation Day began with the establishment of Clergy Appreciation Month. In Timothy 1 (5:17), Paul began the concept of clergy appreciation when he stated that the elders of the church are worthy of a double honor. Please bless Pastor Amy with your presence and your prayers! No gifts are necessary! P.S. Show your gratitude to God with your tithes and offerings.
